Miniature donkeys bring joy to patients and NHS staff at NCH&C
Patients, families and NCH&C staff at Caroline House, Ogden Court and the Priscilla Bacon Hospice were treated to a heartwarming visit from two miniature donkeys, Pippin and Bo-Peep, this month. The furry duo from Miniature Donkeys for Wellbeing brought smiles and joy to everyone they met, brightening the day for patients and their families.
The visit was funded by the NCH&C Charitable Fund as part of a broader programme to improve patient and staff wellbeing.
Donkeys are known for their gentle nature and affectionate personalities; patients couldn't hide their delight as Pip and Bo-Peep made their rounds, stopping for pats, hugs, and photos. Animal therapy is widely recognised for its therapeutic benefits, including reducing stress, anxiety, and feelings of loneliness. The simple act of interacting with animals like miniature donkeys promote feelings of happiness and relaxation.
