Our Urgent Community Response team is keeping patients safe at home over the festive season

This image shows four women standing outside a residential brick building on a paved area next to a parked vehicle. Two women are dressed in blue uniforms and jackets - healthcare professionals, while the other two are in casual attire with coats; one holds a professional video camera, - from channel five. The setting includes a small garden area and overcast skies.

Our Urgent Community Response (UCR) team was filmed for a feature on Channel 5 News on Friday 19 December 2024.

The piece aimed to show the different ways the NHS is helping to keep people well and out of hospital, particularly over the festive period. Interventions from UCR teams, based in local neighbourhoods, mean hundreds of thousands of people will get the support they need at home during winter and avoid turning up at the front doors of A&E at the busiest time of the year.

NCH&C and East Coast Community Health (ECCH) provide UCR to patients across Norfolk and Waveney. In the last year, our UCR team has seen 10,000 patients with 1,651 referrals on average per month, providing 30,812 hours of care.

We're looking for brilliant people to join our UCR and Virtual Ward teams – could this be you? Find out more.
