Leave a gift in your will
Pledging just 1% of your estate to the NCH&C Charitable Fund can make a huge difference for our staff and patients. It’s a wonderful way to say thank you, give something back and help to improve the health and wellbeing of other patients and their families.
Your support could fund the latest equipment, replace tired ward furniture, and provide extra comforts like wellbeing kits for those undergoing stroke rehabilitation or receiving palliative care.
We hope that you'll consider remembering us in this way.

What should I do if I already have a will?
If you are making small changes to your existing will, you can complete a document called a Codicil. A solicitor or other qualified professional can help you with this. For significant changes to your will, we'd recommend consulting a solicitor or qualified professional to discuss your options, which may include redrafting your will.
What kind of gifts can I leave in my will?
The most usual gifts are:
- A fixed sum of money: This is often referred to as a pecuniary gift. For instance, a gift of £100.
- A percentage of the value of your estate: Your estate refers to all your belongings, property, money, investments, and possessions. This is called a residuary gift and can be from 1% to 100% of your estate.
If you would like more information, please call our fundraising team on 01603 272572 for a private chat, email us at charitablefund@nchc.nhs.uk or use the contact us form.
Is there a minimum amount I can leave in my will?
Not at all. We understand that everyone's circumstances are different and we are grateful for all gifts. Any amount has the power to make a difference to the work we do.
Will leaving a gift to charity reduce my inheritance tax?
Yes it will. For instance, if your estate is above the Inheritance Tax threshold, and you leave at least 10% of your estate to a charity, this would reduce your Inheritance Tax rate from 40% to 36%.
Of course, Inheritance Tax can be complicated, so we recommend speaking with a qualified professional if you think you may be liable for tax.
